This optic is designed for AR15 but works on AK with a receiver rail and cheek riser as well — or you can take off the mount and use lowerrings. Prismatic scope with BDC reticle has magnification of 2.5x and very clear, sharp optics. It’s not an ACOG but gets fairly close for 1/5 of the price, and even offers longer eye relief. The body of the scope looks rather industrial, but the BDC is well designed, light gathering is excellent and illumination is daylight visible even at high noon in the desert.
Another day. Not as moody as I've been. I'm tired, I'm a little frustrated
with coworkers, I'm really wishing it was Friday night already and I was
done for the week, again. Ufie holiday party got pushed back to after
Cthulhumas, which on one hand = more people there, but on the other...I
really am SICK of plans changing. I don't cope with plan changes well
at the best of time, and this last month has been full if it. *sigh*
Slept alright, had weird dreams. Plans for tonight are Amythest time and
stopping by a different store to see if I can fill in the gaps from last
night's shopping trip. Tomorrow I'm going back in to see the doctor
about my blood pressure, then to work which will probably raise my blood
pressure to scary heights. *rolls eyes*
Not much else worth mentioning right now. Still reading Roman mysteries,
and wishing that the Ordo Dagon Esoterica would show up and make things
interesting. Glub glub. Ok, I've been writing this for an hour, in
between weird work foo. I'll catch you all later.
Latest update on The Shoggoth Pit. No migration tonight, now it's a big
migration Thursday night. Make up your damn mind peoples! Left work,
headed to the store...which looked like it was hit by a pack of Huns
with a fetish for orange juice. Got some of the things on my list,
enough I guess. Came home, made dinner (veggies), and now I'm just kind of
here. Probably will hit the showers in a bit then curl up with that
most beloved of saviors, a book. Still don't know if it's Romans or
Deep Ones tonight.
Well, at the moment it's shower time. Night all, hopefully tomorrow I
won't be wandering around looking to skin people and make coats out of them.
vulpine137 @ 4:53pm:
Mood improved somewhat. Took myself out to lunch at Jason's Deli,
read more of my favorite Ancient Roman series, got a message from the
boss about the migration tonight. 1 switch with 3 customers on it,
last bit of the old, old network. I'm assuming the powers that
be can move 3 customers without me, but just in case I just audited them
and sent boss notes on said migration.
I'm still within sneezing distance of a breakdown I think, but it's a
bigger sneeze. Now to just get though the next few hours, survive
going to the store, and go home. Tonight will probably also involve
hiding in a book in bed once dinner is consumed. Probably more SPQR,
or Innsmouth tales. Depends on if I feel like dealing with a hardback
or with a Cthäat Aquadingen. If the universe was feeling kind,
Richard Tierney would write more stories that combined the two. (His
collection 'Scroll of Thoth' has a few brief appearances a Deep One
mystic hybrid, and one story where the Tyrian priests of Dagon play nice
with the hero.) Yeah I know, I should just write my own stories. Maybe
that of a hybrid galley captain shipping out from Carthage to get in
assorted misadventures. Maybe I should just write up adventures for
Cthulhu Invictus the role playing game.
That's about it for right now. I hope. Please Cthulhu, let this be it
for right now. Tomorrow, maybe I can make this stupid firewall work.
Then, just get through the week. Gah. If I don't kill the NOC tech
for asking stupid questions and not responding to my requests for more
info...argh. *thud* *thud*
Late this morning, I saw two messages come in (notification and partial text came across the top of the phone) but neither is visible in the text menu on the phone. So I know that somebody tried to reach me but can’t get to the data. The phone (HTC Inspire) doesn’t bubble up fresh messages on top reliably, so unless I chance onto them by accident, I can’t view them.
Got asked by an admin, 'so what are you migrating tonight ?' Umm, what
the fuck are you talking about. Seems Boss #1 told him we're migrating
something tonight, but telling me isn't in the cards. Called and messaged
said boss, no answer. Add to this a firewall VPN I can't figure out,
because one side is running a totally different version than ours, and
the rest of the recent issues (holidays, weather, Mom's lack of memory,
general feeling of being isolated) and I've lost it. Crying at my
cubable, general desire to just walk off the Shoggoth Pit. That and I
think I double dosed on my anxiety med...I can't remember if I took
one this morning because I was already wound up or not. Not a good sign.
I'm just going to stop working on things besides tickets, as any more
proof that I don't have a clue on what I'm doing will just add to that
desire to walk away.
3 week, then this fucking year of shit is over. Maybe 2014 will be better.
Hope so, I really can't take much worse.
Well the roads are finally sorta clear of ice. Not that it seems to have
affected the drivers, as it still took me the better part of an hour
to get to work. Neither boss is here, not a lot of tickets (that I have
to deal with, boss #1 has a bunch of weird route foo to do). Mood is
still pretty damn lousy. Definitely rather be hiding in a book. Hiding
in a book helped the mood last night. But now I have to be in the
real world again. Do not like.
Once I get done with the real world at work, I then have to go to the
real world of shopping. Eww. Then home, where I'll probably hide
in a book some more. Lather, rinse, repeat. Hopefully things will
swing up as time passes. I can dream at least.

Well made it in. Deiced the car, then it took about an hour to drive in.
Basically at every overpass traffic pretty much stopped. So I showed
up around 11am. Dug into tickets, knocked out the stuff that piled
up since Saturday night. Nothing planned for today other than tickets.
Anxiety levels are pretty high right now. But at least I'm out of the
house. Didn't sleep great, not sure if I had nightmares or just broken
Generally I'm feeling off. Don't want to be at work, but I don't want
to be stuck at home either. *sigh* Can't win for loosing. Oh well,
at least it's a mostly calm day here at the Shoggoth Pit. Lets hope
it stays that way.
A lot of people stop running in the winter which to a large extent baffles me -- especially when they've slogged through 80 degree days. Cold weather running is your reward! Trust me, you'll be more comfortable in the winter if you just dress properly.
The big downer of dressing appropriately is that you're a lot warmer after you get started so, both in summer and winter, you need to plan for how you're going to feel on the majority of your outing rather than how you feel when you walk out the door. This is a particular bummer in the winter when it may be twenty degrees out.
I've been trying to come up with some sort of formula for staying comfortable, no doubt someone's already given it a go, but my hypothesis is "1 layer for every 15 degrees below 60" -- you should also have a full zip something or other, light jacket, or heavier hoodie because you're coldest when you first leave the house and for the first mile, so you want something you can easily take off while you're running. When temperatures get down near freezing, it should be a full-zip hoodie, so you can cover your head & ears. Hoodies are better than hats because you have more variation in controlling your warmth with them. A Good running hoodie will zip up tight around your head and the zipper will stop just below your nose, this gives you a lot of variation in temperature control with the zipper.
If it's windy, raining or snowing, one of your outer layers should be weather resistant.
If you have the option, it's wonderful to have a place a couple miles from home where you can stash extra layers.
Today it was 28 degrees and snowing. I was wearing a compression base layer, an over layer and a weather resistant Sugoi top that keeps the snow from coming through while, allegedly, still letting my sweat escape. Along with that was a micro fiber hoodie that I alternately put on and tied around my waist depending on how I felt. Ultimately I was slightly warm in the three layers. This may seem a little odd considering my beard and eyebrows froze and my hat developed icicles.
