I've seen comments defending him because he's a really good film maker (actually, no, he's really not that good except at self absorbed bullshit), because it was so long ago (yeah, it's called being a fugitive from justice), and (WAIT FOR IT), because the girl's mother approved, and she wasn't a virgin anyway.
FROM "LIBERALS."
language warning.
Except, of course, for the small fact that Polanski drugged a 13 year old girl, then fucked her, fucked her face, and fucked her in the ass over her protests, screams, panics, and attempts to appear asthmatic to get him to stop.
And how did he feel about that?
“If I had killed somebody, it wouldn’t have had so much appeal to the press, you see? But… f—ing, you see, and the young girls. Judges want to f— young girls. Juries want to f— young girls. Everyone wants to f— young girls!”
Um...dear sick fuck: No, they don't. If you really can't grasp that fact, you don't need therapy, you need a fucking nailgun to the balls, and a sledgehammer to the face.
So who's supporting him?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/joan-z-sho
Wait, a WOMEN'S GROUP??? (and PuffHo, but we knew they'd eat any steamer a socialist dumped in front of them. Though to be fair, most of the readers do seem to think a line has finally been crossed.)
I mean, this isn't supporting lecher Bill Clinton, or murderer Teddy Kennedy...though most of them supported those fuckers, too.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Movies/0
I mean, really, Hollywood: Aronofsky? David Lynch? John Landis? Harvey Weinstein? Martin Scorsese? (well, I can see that. He was probably fucking diCaprio since he was 16, but at least that's age of consent in CA). Woody Allen?...
You know what Woody Allen and Arm and Hammer have in common? They both come in a little yellow box.
I'm sorry, on any debate about child molestation, that perverted little shitbag should just whistle embarrassedly and change the subject.
Terry Gilliam signed this petition. I don't think I'm alone in suggesting we should start reuniting Monty Python right now. (Think about it.)
Salman Rushdie...on second though, radical Islamists, please do kill him. After a session of man-love Thursday, old school style.
Debra Winger...what's she done in the last 30 years? Anything?
And this quote:
By their extraterritorial nature, film festivals the world over have always permitted works to be shown and for filmmakers to present them freely and safely, even when certain States opposed this.
The arrest of Roman Polanski in a neutral country, where he assumed he could travel without hindrance, undermines this tradition: it opens the way for actions of which no one can know the effects.
Yes, because arresting child rapists is the first step to ruining The Arts!
Whoopi whines that "it wasn't rape-rape."
Yeah, and it wasn't "Slavery-slavery" your ancestors put up with.
It's disgraceful for these cocksuckers to call themselves "liberal." They're not even "libertine." "Narcissistic, sociopathic little shitsuckers" would be an insult to any narcissistic, sociopathic little shitsuckers in the area.
Lévy says, "Apprehended like a common terrorist Saturday evening, September 26, as he came to receive a prize for his entire body of work, Roman Polanski now sleeps in prison."
No, not like a common terrorist, because a common terrorist at least has a goal higher than himself. Polanski just likes fucking little girls. But after all, in his mind, EVERYONE wants to fuck little girls, so it's okay.

when the judge decided it should be lengthened to indefinite psychological evaluation.
AFAIK, the judge hadn't announced anything or decided anything. But there was concern that he might (The deal had been done and the plea made before the judge actually signed off on it.)
So the flight was over the concern that the judge might - quite legally and procedurally - do something. As opposed to getting the judge to agree prior to the plea, which is the more common approach.
(Also: Apparently he'd agreed on 90 days, and 42 of which was served getting "observed" in a psychological setting. Leaving 48 days to serve, under the agreement to be potentially served in jail!)

age of consent in CA is 18. at the *time*, it was 16. so no matter what, she was too young, she was deceptively transported for "nefarious" purposes, she was drugged, she was raped in every sense of the word while she screamed and cried and fought as best she could - and she was sodomized as part of that, which at that time in CA ALONE carried several years between *willing* partners.

Ah, so Hollywood liberals believe that (1) mothers should be able to sell their daughters as whores against their will, and (2) if you're not a virgin, anyone may have you sexually, at any time, regardless of your consent. Gee, when you come down to it, the girl wasn't wearing a burka, either, so who cares what happened to her?

And you know, if it was a soldier being nabbed for war crimes, pretty much everyone in the military would say, "Well, he's a criminal, so he has to pay the penalty for it, and the rest of us aren't going to look bad by endorsing it." (Once convicted--I give a moderate amount of leeway before conviction because stories are hard to get straight even when not being shot at.)
I get that it's a big film festival. I get that he's got a certain following, and I don't object to his films, even though most of them would make me yawn. Tess was so-so. The rest? Eh. But a film festival is not some magical sanctuary one can seek asylum in. It's a FILM FESTIVAL, and local and international laws do, in fact, apply. It really makes me question what else goes on at these festivals if they're so horrorstruck by a CONVICTED CHILD ABDUCTOR AND RAPIST being called to account.

I kept trying to find some words to express my outrage. After three tries, I realized that there aren't any.
Usually I take a "Piperesque" view of capital punishment, we don't execute people for committing crimes, we execute them for being the kind of people who commit those crimes--a sanitation measure, like shooting sick cattle. IOW, not a "punishment" or even really a deterrent.
For some crimes, however, and this is one (Polanski and the mother who "approved" provided that that claim is accurate) for which I'd make an exception. How about finding someone as large and strong relative to them that Polanski was to that little girl and....

It is all from that lefty crap they pushed in the 70s
This screw just spouts the same crap as NAMBLA. Same as the 70s claptrap "If it feels good, do it"."He must be forgiven because he is a genius" bullshit does not float in my bowl. Goebbels was a genius film maker, but I am pretty sure that Polanski would not see that as a valid defense. I'm with Mike. String the buggerer by his testicles with dental floss and let the weight settle slow. then begin the execution by slow Wallacian Impalement. Well, why does this surprise you?
Hell, I've know for nearly 30 years that the liberals and government, despite all their weepy anti-gun 'for the children' crap, and hysteria about pedophilia couldn't give a rats ass if children are molested. How do I know? Well, geez, the fact that my so-called teachers in public schools both actively encouraged, protected, and tacitly consented to my being sexually molested literally thousands of times by my so-called classmates was a real big hint. The only interest the government has in saving the 'children' from sexual abuse, is if they can use that as justification to take away some other freedom, such as the internet. Anyone who says otherwise is either lying, or a useful idiot.

Our society is upside down
I knew a guy once who had a felony record as a sex offender. The story behind it was this: Apparently when he was in his 20's he used to go to a lot of REALLY wild parties, where there were drugs and sex. A common attendee at a lot of these parties was (get this) a 14 year old girl, whose parents knew what these parties were like, but apparently didn't care. The parents ALSO knew that this 14 year old girl was having sex with 5 different adult men, but didn't care about THAT, either. So, one fine day at one of these parties, this girl goes up to the aforementioned guy, with a condom in her hand, and asks him for sex.Apparently, although girl's mummy and daddy didn't mind her f***ing 5 other adult men, for whatever reason they didn't like the looks of this guy, and turned him into the police. Thus the felony rap, and sex offender record.
Of course the real pattern here is the one that was made explicit in J. Neil Schulman's 'The Rainbow Cadenza'. An individual's body apparently doesn't belong to themselves any more, but rather to the government. Thus, the government can give 'consent' for the 13 year old drugged by Roman Polaski to be raped, or for me to be repeatedly molested in the so-called public schools, but if someone 'underage' gives their OWN consent to have sex, then that is a crime, because the government didn't give IT'S consent.
Morally speaking, our society is now about 180 degrees from where it should be. Not merely with sex, but with the right to life as well. The more actual right to life a person has, because, say, they are a genius who has made enormous contributions to human knowledge, the less interest anyone seems to have in protecting their rights. Thus you see the spectacle of things like Alan Turing being forcibly given hormone treatments and locked in prison until he commits suicide. On the other hand, there are millions of people who spend their time weeping over the right to life of stem cells, that don't even have a brain.

Re: Our society is upside down
I didn't know that about Turing, but Britain had a lot of that at the time. A truly circular logic--we don't trust homosexuals because they can be blackmailed by their homosexuality, and will be, because you care about it. If one doesn't care about orientation (or other consensual "crimes"), they're not useful for blackmail. So simple, yet so hard for most people to grasp. Everyone wants everyone else to live by their rules.

So the Girl's mother approved? So What?
So I just re-read your original blog, Mike, and noticed the idiotic statement that as a supposed excuse for what Roman Polanski did, was the fact that the girl's mother 'approved' of this.Say what? What the hell does the fact that the girl's *mother* may have approved have to do with the price of tea in China, or whether it was rape, or anything else, other than the fact that the girl's mother apparently had the mentality of a pimp, and a pimp who would pimp her own flesh and blood, for that matter.
Now see here! There is a particular *sort* of human being, whom I have extremely little respect for. That is the sort who wants a particular type of difficult or distasteful job to be done, but out of laziness or delicacy, or cowardice, does any of the following:
1. Out of laziness or delicacy, than doing the job themselves, forces others to do it, or uses violence to appropriate the earnings of those who do it. The most notorious example of this would be a pimp, who for whatever reason, doesn't want to sell their own body, but forces or parasitizes others who DO sell their own bodies. And I would like to state for the record that this is one reason I have extremely little respect for the Islamic diety, Allah. If you take away all the BS, Allah is basically nothing but a pimp, who rewards those males who bribe him sufficiently with sex. But Allah doesn't even have the decency to engage in the sex himself. A God or Goddess who prostituted him or her SELF would be a huge step up from Allah, who instead apparently enslaves and prostitutes Islamic females and unfortunate creatures called 'Houris' (who aren't even given a soul) to provide Islamic men with their pussy. Also in this category would be public school teachers, who simper about how much they love 'the children', because they don't abuse them themselves, with their own hands, but merely do everything in their power to allow some children to torture and molest others.
2. Out of cowardice, gets others to do a job they want done, that they are too frightened to do themselves. Good examples of this are politicians who get others to fight their wars, and those who hire a hitman to murder their enemies, because they haven't got the guts to do it themselves.
3. Those cowards who want something extremely ugly done, but then either pretend that it isn't ugly by doing it in a prettified fashion, or alternately, simultaneously demanding that other people do it, and making it impossible for the others to do, by demanding that THEY do it in a prettified fashion. Examples of these include the scum who call themselves 'public school teachers' who want lobotomies performed on children, but prettify it by doing it chemically rather than surgically; or those who are too cowardly to fight in wars themselves, and demand that the soldiers who ARE doing the fighting somehow fight the war in a prettified fashion.
4. Those who have (or think they have) a greivance against some person or the other, but are too cowardly to attack that particular person, so instead attack some 3rd party who has done nothing to them, but who they feel is safer and easier to attack. This is pretty much what constitutes a terrorist, who are too cowardly to go after a politician behind his wall of body guards, so instead attacks people on an airplane, who he is sure have no weapons.
Grr! Anyways, where was I? Oh yeah, I have far less respect for a pimp, than for a prostitute. In fact, I have less respect for a pimp, than for a rapist (who at least has the courage to possibly expose himself to danger, if he picks the wrong victim). If this girl's mother 'approved' of what was going on, in my book, that makes her a pimp, and I have even less respect for her now than I do for Roman Polanski (who I have extremely little respect for).

Re: So the Girl's mother approved? So What?
I'd argue #2. Assassination done properly saves lives, but does take a professional. I object that politicians are afraid they'll be targets themselves for doing the right thing. And war always requires an industrial base and skilled troops. The Abrahamic religions seem to waffle between childish and misogynistically gay about women. They're icky pooey nasty girly things who are unclean and must never be touched, except that they should provide sinful nasty sex to men as a duty. How's all that again? Oh, yes, and sex is necessary and beautiful and part of God's plan, and FILTHY AND SINFUL and you're damned to hell because YOUR PARENTS did it.
Heck of a basis for religion.

Re: Polanski
Sarge: raping little girls has something in common with auto-erotic asphyxiation (David Carradine's awful naughty secret). Which is that they are both the acts of idiots. The reason why is, that no matter how good either one might make you feel, there are probably other sexual acts you can perform which feel almost as good, and won't get you dead or in jail.On another note, Michael, I was thinking that it would be cool in your future books to see some of the Freehold special forces get into some sort of biofeedback training. I can envision circumstances where it might be useful for a soldier to be able to do things like raise or lower their own body temperature by a few degrees, or lower their heart rate or blood pressure to slow bleeding. I used to actually do this as a teenager, I would raise my body temperature to over 100 just by concentrating on it, in order to get out of school with a 'fever'. As you may have surmised from my posts here, my school experiences sucked, and that's how desperate I was at times to get out of it.

"it wasn't rape-rape."
Whoopi whines that "it wasn't rape-rape."From what I've read, sodomy, use of date-rape drugs and pleas to stop it was the worst type of rape. The age of the poor girl just makes it even worse.
And fleeing the country to evade the light sentence he got for it, the guy should be spending years enjoying the 'it wasn't rape-rape' from his cell-mate.
October 16 2009, 17:43:00 UTC 2 years ago
Re: "it wasn't rape-rape."
Well, he voluntarily fled justice. He knows the penalty. He never made any effort to return. So he consensually committed acts that will put him in jail. So, I'd say if a cellmate has a go at him, it wouldn't be "rape-rape" because he took acts to encourage it.
Must be some fetish he has.:)

Off Topic: Law Abiding Citizen - What an annoying movie.
Mike, I wanted to send this in an email, but when I clicked your link to get your email address, it opened something that looked like Windows Outlook, which makes my computer do funky things. Oh well. If you want to sometime, you can send me a short note to my email, septithol@yahoo.com so I can know your email address. Otherwise I like writing in your blog, too.Anyway, I watched the movie 'Law Abiding Citizen' yesterday, which was pretty good, up until near the end, when it got very annoying. It was basically about revenge, after two creeps rape and kill a man's wife and daughter, he spends 10 years working for the government as an assassin, specializing in very interesting and lethal inventions, until he feels he has the skills to go after the people who screwed him over (he has a really long list).
There were basically 2 reasons the movie got annoying. The first reason was a comment made by the woman who was the mayor of Philadelphia, in the movie, that she didn't believe that this assassin could possibly be smarter than the entire Philadelphia police department and the FBI. Well, actually, yes, he could be. Quite easily. This is something people never seem to grasp. Intelligence is not additive in nature. 2 people, or even 200 people with an IQ of 100 are not smarter than Albert Einstein, who had an IQ of 200. The smartness of any organization is, at best, equal to the smartness of the single smartest person in that organization. What is more likely is some prick with a far lower IQ and a need to get his ego stroked is hampering the smartest people in that organization, thereby lowering the intelligence of that organization to his (or her) particular level of incompetence. If the head pricks in the FBI or the Philadelphia police Dept happen to have an IQ of, say, 110, and are getting in the way of anyone smarter, then, yes, anyone with an IQ higher than 110 is going to be smarter than the entire FBI and Philadephia police dept.
The second annoying thing in the movie, is that after spending 90 minutes being absolutely brilliant, the main character, the assassin, all of a sudden started making stupid mistakes, mainly to allow the other idiots in the movie to finally (and unrealistically) do something about him.

Re: Off Topic: Law Abiding Citizen - What an annoying movie.
Oh well, anyway, here's Ann's basic guide as to how to get your life fucked over.1. Find somebody much smarter than you are. It really helps if this person has an IQ at least 50 points higher than you do, making your thought processes on the level of a protosimian compared to theirs.
2. Permanently screw up this person's life the best way you can. Good ways to do this include repeatedly sexually abusing them, or their family; killing their family (or their pets, if that is their family substitute); or stealing or destroying something of extreme value to them, such as their invention or manuscript.
3. Make sure this person knows exactly who you are, when you screw up their life.
4. Make sure you have a rather trivial reason for screwing up this person's life, such as getting a minute amount of money, stroking your own ego, disliking their sexual or religious choices, or not wanting to miss your coffee break by spending 5 extra minutes doing an alternate action that would avoid totally screwing up this person's life. Make sure the person you screw is aware of what a trivial reason you had for ruining their life.
5. Make sure the person has a very long grudge memory and the patience to spend years waiting to get even with you.
6. Go around making rude comments and telling lies about the person you screwed over for years after you screw them over, to keep the memory fresh in their minds.
7. Make sure that they have nothing to lose when they go after you, and there is no way you can get leverage over this person. It's really good if they either have no money, so you can't sue them, so much money that they can afford any lawsuits you throw at them, or their money is hidden somewhere that nobody can get at it. It's also good if they either have no family or friends you can threaten, or if threatening their family and friends would actually make things far worse for you, because then this person will add legal problems to the other wrath they will bring down on your head. It's also really good if this person doesn't give a rat's fart about their reputation.
8. Make sure that you DO have a lot of things to lose, including your money, your family, your pets, your job, your reputation, your health, your sanity, your body parts, and your life. In the pursuit of getting your life fucked over, it's good to give this person a wide variety of choices in the exact manner they will do so.
